Fascism – Defined

From Wiki

Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/ FASH-iz-əm) is a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology and movement.[1][2][3] It is characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived interest of the nation or race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy.[2][3] Opposed to communism, democracy, liberalism, pluralism, and socialism,[4][5] fascism is at the far right of the traditional left–right spectrum.[6][5][7]

Fascism views forms of violence including political violence, imperialistviolence, and war as means to national rejuvenation.[11][12] Fascists often advocate for the establishment of a totalitarian one-party state,[13][14] and for a dirigiste economy (a market economy in which the state plays a strong directive role through economic interventionist policies), with the principal goal of achieving autarky (national economic self-sufficiency).[15][16]Fascism’s extreme authoritarianism and nationalism can manifest as a belief in Manifest Destiny or a revival of historical greatness (like Mussoliniseeking to restore the Roman Empire). It may also centre around an ingroup-outgroup opposition. In the case of Nazism, this involved racial purity and a master race which blended with a variant of racism and discrimination against a demonized “Other“, such as Jews and other groups. Other marginalized groups such as homosexuals, transgender people, ethnic outgroups, or immigrants have been targeted. Such bigotry has motivated fascist regimes to commit massacres, forced sterilizations, deportations, and genocides.[17][18] During World War II, the genocidal and imperialist ambitions of the fascist Axis powers resulted in the murder of millions of people.

For a more simplified definition

Fascism is a far-right[1] form of government where most of the country‘s power is held by one ruler or a small group, under one party.[2][3]

Fascist states are usually totalitarian one-party states,[4] which prey on masses of angry, atomized and desperate individuals to make them unite behind a strong man who promises them a utopia and revenge on those who may have harmedthem.[5]

The power of such totalitarianism comes from mass mobilization via the mechanism as mentioned,[4][5] while voluntary collaboration at every level of society by those agreeing with the same goal is necessary for maintaining the totalitarian state.[4][5]

Let Me Introduce Myself…….

I’m an Army raised #GenX.

Born in an Army hospital in what was West Germany.

Spent the first 16yrs of my life moving where the Army sent our family…Germany (2x), Texas, APG Maryland, Ft Wainwright AK (best loved)….before I spent the rest of my youth in Indiana, where we retired to due family (my folks are from NW Indiana….region raised).

I had the goal to leave Indiana a year before I got there…..it did take about 15yrs, but I got out…lived in FL, AZ, WA before getting back to Oregon

Being an ArmyBrat, you learn to pay attention what is happening in the world, because it will affect you. My interest in US & world politics/events started very early.

Why would an 8th grader get a subscription to Time in ’88? And then had that for 20yrs?

Earned my BA in Political Science, minored in Women’s Studies at Purdue University. #BoilerUp #HammerDown Love my #Boilermakers

Meet my partner when I was at Purdue. Surprised I found a guy raised there that held the same core beliefs as me and a cat lover (our 2 cats looked like sisters)….and had just gotten out of the Navy a few months before.

My partner being a Persian Gulf Veteran was a nice bonus in that I needed someone that had a military connection…..I still do not understand non-military people, after all these years. And having a partner that lived it, even for a short time, helped me with dealing with non-military.

My addiction to politics, news, world events comes to me honestly and has gotten even stronger as time goes by….I’m getting more and more radical as I get older.

With the start of social media, I have found ways to express myself. This blog is just another way for me to get my thoughts out in a little more depth then on bluesky, FB (private) and twitter (barely update since Nov ’24)

Don’t really expect much traffic, this has nothing to do with making money….I actually have no idea how to do with a blog….LOL

Welcome to my ramblings.
